Wilson Varela will be Valeriu Mircea’s new opponent at the KSW 112 gala in Szczecin. Roman Szymanski suffered a knee injury and had to withdraw from the fight.
At the XTB KSW 112 gala in Szczecin, Valeriu Mircea (30-9-1), former interim champion and today’s number one ranked light heavyweight, will face the number two of the lineup, former contender for the belt, Wilson Varela (13-6). The duel in the contractual weight category up to 73 kilograms will be fought on November 15 at the Netto Arena. Roman Szymanski, who was originally matched against Mircea, had to withdraw from the confrontation due to a knee injury.
Valeriu Mircea has six fights under his belt in the KSW organization. In his last bout he faced Salahdine Parnasse in a unification championship bout, but had to acknowledge his superiority in the cage. Earlier, “Lone Wolf” smashed Leo Brichta and won the interim light heavyweight championship belt. The clash was so impressive that it was voted the best fight of the evening. This was not the first honor for the Moldovan in KSW, who in one of the fights sent Borys Mankowski to the boards with an impressive flying knee and was awarded the bonus for the knockout of the evening. Valeriu has fought as many as 40 fights in his entire career, 30 of which he won and 25 of which he finished before time.
Wilson Varela is ranked the second best light heavyweight fighter. In his last bout for KSW, he fought for the championship belt against Salahdine Parnasse, but he fell short against the champion. After that confrontation, Varela fought for the belt in the cage of the French organization Hexagon MMA, quickly submitted KSW’s well-known Nicolae Bivol and sat on the light heavyweight throne. The Frenchman has fought nineteen times in professional MMA, winning thirteen times, with seven triumphs coming in the first round. Only two of Varela’s victorious fights ended on the judges’ scorecards, and in KSW the popular “The Prototype” won two bonuses for best knockouts of the evening. Varela also has an extensive kickboxing career and more than 25 fights fought in this formula.
