XTB KSW 120: Laura Grzyb Submitted in the Second Round. Nascimento Dominated the Polish Fighter on the Ground

We’ve just seen Laura Grzyb’s return to the ring. The IBO bantamweight champion faced off against Rayla Nascimento.

Ever since her debut in KSW, the female boxer has openly expressed her championship ambitions—but in her main discipline. “Grzybowa” had agreed with her superiors that she would be able to compete for the highest honor in boxing. That opportunity arose in March, and Laura Grzyb claimed the IBO title by defeating Simamkele Tuntsheni on points.

Today, however, she put her perfect MMA record on the line. With two wins under her belt , “Grzybowa” faced off against the experienced Rayla Nascimento. The Brazilian had a 12-11 record and had won three of her last four fights.

KSW 120: Grzyb vs. Nascimento — Which Fighter Won?

ROUND 1. – The start of the fight was fairly calm. Rayla Nascimento quickly closed the distance and pinned Laura Grzyb against the fence, positioning the action near her corner, where she could hear her coaches’ instructions in real time. After a moment, the Polish fighter reversed the position and took the initiative herself against the fence, landing several strikes. The end of the round was spent mainly standing in the center of the cage, where both fighters exchanged a few punches.

ROUND 2. — Laura Grzyb took the center of the cage and began jabbing her opponent right from the start. Rayla, simply by moving her feet, pushed Laura against the fence, where she transitioned into a fence lock. “Grzyb” resisted being taken down for a long time, but finally the Brazilian slammed her onto the mat. She took a side position and threatened her opponent with both an American armbar and a chokehold. This opened the way for her to move into the mount, where she rubbed her hands across the Polish fighter’s face. Grzyb clung to Nascimento, who delivered her strikes sparingly, though the ones she chose—whether elbows or hammerfists—wreaked havoc. Laura twisted into a turtle position… and after a moment, she tapped out Mataleo.

RESULT: Rayla Nascimento won by submission in the 2nd round.
