Usman Nurmagomedov defended the championship belt of the Bellator organization at a gala in San Diego. Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted emotionally to the course of the duel.
Usman Nurmagomedov remains undefeated in professional MMA. The fighter from Kiziljurt, Dagestan, defended his Bellator lightweight belt in a clash with Alexander Shabliy.
Usman Nurmagomedov prevailed in terms of wrestling, and in the fourth round he hit his rival with a high kick. After this blow, the injured Shabliy began to retreat backward, while Usman walked forward delivering more punches. When Alexandr slumped to the mat, the Dagestanian tried to pin the choke but quickly let go in favor of ground and pound.
This was the moment when Nurmagomedov came closest to finishing however he ultimately won the duel by decision. All judges unanimously scored Nurmagomedov’s win (50-45, 49-46, 49-46).
Noteworthy was Khabib Nurmagomedov ‘s frantic reaction in the corner. The exasperated former UFC champion nearly choked Umar, who was standing next to him, and when Usman was fouled Khabib jumped up and nervously gestured probably demanding that Shabliy be punished with a points deduction.
