Rafael Fiziev is preparing to return to the UFC octagon. The experienced striker is surprised that no one has challenged him to a fight and expressed his desire for a second fight with Gamrot.
Rafael Fiziev has been inactive for quite some time. The Azerbaijani representative has not fought since his bout with Mateusz Gamrot. In an interview with MMA Fighting, Fiziev commented on his current situation.
Ataman criticized rivals who are ranked lower in the UFC lightweight rankings. Rafael Fiziev pointed out that for a long time no opponent challenged him.
– I was hoping for someone to challenge me to a fight. I’m in 10th or thereabouts 9th place in the rankings. I thought someone would attach the fact that I haven’t fought in a year and start trash talk. Why didn’t anyone do that? Where are those guys who are ranked 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 and 10?
Rafael Fiziev has indicated that he is already back to full strength and is in training. Originally from Kyrgyzstan, the fighter wants to return to the octagon at the end of 2024.
– I am ready to fight. I want to fight in November or December, the last month of the year would be perfect for me. I’m ready to fight anyone. I have a few names in mind, because no one has challenged me.
Rafael Fiziev openly said that he watched Mateusz Gamrot’s fight with Dan Hooker. Immediately after the duel, Ataman contacted his manager and told him that he wanted a rematch with Gamrot.
– After Gamrot’s fight with Hooker, I told the manager that I wanted to fight him. I just have to show that I am capable of beating him. I believe in my skills and I want to present them. I am ready for him as well.
Asked who he most wants to face, Fiziev admitted that he would take any fight. However, he added that the ideal opponents would be Dan Hooker and Beneil Dariush.
– As I mentioned before, I will fight anyone. Just put some names in front of me. I just want to come back and fight. The ideal fights would be Hooker and Dariush.
