Alexander Volkanovski strongly appreciated Diego Lopes’ victory. Volk made no secret of the fact that if the UFC puts together a fight for an interim belt then his opponent could be Lopes.

Alexader Volkanovski commented on Diego Lopes ‘ performance at the UFC 306 gala on his youtube channel. The former UFC featherweight champion was impressed with Lopes’ performance.

– Lopes scored a great victory. They are both top fighters. I like them both, so whoever wins I would be happy. Lopes is now at the top of the rankings. I think he will now be ranked number three.

Dana White said after the UFC 306 gala that Lopes could be considered as a reserve in the Topuria vs Holloway fight at UFC 308. Alexander Volkanovski outlined a different scenario. According to the former champion, he is the one who is closest to playing for the belt. “The Great”, however, does not rule out a clash with Lopes for the interim title.

– Of course, my next fight will be for the championship title, depending on what happens. Will there be any injuries before the Max vs Ilia fight? Who knows. Or will they put together an interim title fight with me and Lopes? You never know, we’ll see what happens.

Finally, Alexander Volkanovski summed up the topic. The former featherweight champion is confident that he will fight for the championship belt in his next fight, regardless of the developments in the up to 66 kilograms division.

– My next fight will be for the belt. But if they can’t step in the octagon soon enough, say, if Max wins, will he move up to light heavyweight again and defend the BMF belt? Will we then introduce an interim title? We haven’t discussed it yet, so I’ll contact the UFC and we’ll talk. I know this much. In my next fight I will fight for the belt.
