Arman Tsarukyan is ready to fight a rematch with a top ranked opponent, but he sets one condition that the UFC must meet.

Arman Tsarukyan has a string of four wins in a row. Solid and confident wins have allowed the 27-year-old to secure the number one ranking in the lightweight category. Tsarukyan doesn’t have rematch clashes in mind against fighters he has already fought. Unless the UFC organization puts an interim championship belt on the line.

Tsarukyan made the comments in an interview with Red Corner MMA. Arman stated that in his opinion he defeated Charles Oliveira by unanimous decision. “Ahalkalakets” claims that it was a one-sided clash, however, he points out.

– I was toppling him and hitting him in the stand-up, so if this rematch was for the interim belt I wouldn’t give a damn who the challenger would be. I can fight anyone for the interim belt. I win the belt, I become champion, I fight a duel, so I earn money. I also gain more experience, take another step towards fighting for a full-fledged title and fight again at a five-round distance. I’m 27 years old, so the more I fight, the more experience I gather in the octagon.

Charles Oliveira has not fought since his loss to Tsarukyan. Despite this, the Brazilian is still listed second in the UFC rankings in the up to 70 kilogram category. This opens the way for him to have big clashes with the biggest names, and at the same time, in a way, puts him in the starting blocks, as far as an appearance in a possible bout for the interim belt is concerned.

Last week Javier Mendez, head coach of AKA, confirmed that Islam Makhachev will definitely not return to the UFC octagon in 2024. The Dagestanian is still suffering from pain in his wrist and has not yet resumed heavy training. This opens the door for the UFC to organize a skirmish for the interim belt.
