Diego Lopes will get a great opportunity from the UFC. Dana White has relayed that Lopes could become a reserve in the Ilia Topuria vs Max Holloway fight at UFC 308.
Diego Lopes recorded a dominant victory over Brian Ortega over the weekend. The Brazilian-born Mexican representative has a string of five straight wins in the octagon of the UFC organization.
Prior to the duel at UFC 306, Lopes was listed at thirteenth in the featherweight category rankings, however, a confident win over Ortega will give him a great promotion and allow him to enter the top five.
It quickly became clear that Diego Lopes could soon face a big opportunity. Dana White, speaking to reporters, conveyed that if the fighter is willing he will be a reserve in the championship fight Topuria vs. Holloway set for UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi.
– We are ready to do anything for him despite the fact that he yelled at me terribly after the UFC 306 gala. He was emotional and demanded a fight for the belt. Also, we will see how it will turn out.
The UFC 308 gala will take place on October 28. If Diego Lopes didn’t suffer any serious injuries in the Ortega fight he will have to rest for a while and resume training once, twice, so that he will be ready not only to jump into the replacement entry and make weight.
